Social realism is a term used for work produced by painters, printmakers, photographers, writers and filmmakers that aims to draw attention to the real socio-political conditions of the working class as means to critique the power structures behind these conditions.
Often seen as raw, gritty and a true depiction of life as it is.
Truth be told, I would love to have thrown thousands upon thousands into a collection, but after what has been a trying past years, uncertainty, worry, and dread I just wasn't in a position to do so. But I was desperate to create and push myself. And so I was challenging the status quo of trying to produce a high quality collection, on as small a budget as I could. Everything for this collection was purchased from my local haberdashery, or things I already had in my ever growing kit.
